Abstract
Objective: The purpose of the current research is to adapt the Perceived Religious Discrimination Scale (PDRS) and to establish the reliability of the adapted version of the scale.
Place and Duration of Study: Karachi, Year, 2013
Sample and Method: In the present study, PDRS was translated into Urdu language according to our culture (Pakistan). The experts translated the scale into Urdu and items were analyzed by a committee of experts for the translation accuracies followed by back translation into English language by different experts. The cross language validity was assessed by using “single group bilingual design”. After completion of the translation and adaptation procedures the reliability was assessed by applying the scale on 110 nurses belonging to minority (Christians) between the ages of 21-30 from different hospitals in Karachi, Pakistan and university students.
Results: The estimates showed significant results (r=.938) at .000 alpha level. Chronbach’ Alpha for the initial phase was significant at r= .818 , p< .001. The test retest reliability was assessed which depicted significant results at .000 level. Split half reliability and Spearman Brown was also applied depicting significant findings.
